We installed this beautiful and practical Esse Bakeheart stove in this large farmhouse inglenook fireplace.
The original large brick chimney was cleaned, we then relined it using a high quality 904 grade stainless steel flexible liner to ensure that it was corrosion resistant and would last many years to come. We also then insulated the flue liner to ensure that it had good draw and appropriate flue draught properties.
The new owners of this stove are over the moon with the installation and use it as one of their main sources of heat in the property and also use it as a cookstove and no longer have to rely on oil as their only sources of heat.
This stack had lots of loose brickwork and flaunching and the way it had been originally installed without any chimney pots meant that it was not weather resistant and was prone to leaking water into the chimney below.
We cleaned up and re-mortared in all the loose brickwork, adding a new top layer of modern engineering brick. We also removed the old corroded liners and installed new high quality 904 grade stainless steel liners, properly clamped onto a thick stainless steel supporting plate. Finally we installed new chimney pots and birdguard cowls to ensure that both the birds and the weather would need to try much harder to get into the building.
The customer no longer has any issues with water ingress and the stack is now solid for many more years to come.
